How To Sign New Doula Clients & What To Do When You Get Hired!
If you’re going to make a meaningful impact and cultivate a successful doula practice, you need to connect with and sign new clients.
By establishing a strong online presence, leveraging testimonials, and effectively communicating your value, you can attract and retain doula clients who will benefit from the doula care you provide!
You’ve answered the call: you’re a doula, congratulations!!! Such meaningful work awaits you! Working as a birth doula, you’ll have the immense privilege of watching people transform into parents, right before your eyes! With your training and preparation completed, you’re ready to work with expecting families.
But wait a second…where exactly are you going to find those families who are eager to work with you!?
If you’re going to make a meaningful impact and cultivate a successful doula practice, you need to connect with and sign new clients. Attracting and retaining clients is an art that requires a combination of strategic marketing, effective communication, and a genuine desire to make a difference. Take a deep, cleansing breath because in this blog post, we’ll explore some practical tips and techniques to help you sign new clients and grow your doula business.
Develop a Strong Online Presence
Start by creating a professional website that showcases your expertise, services, and testimonials with a personal touch that potential clients will relate to. (Lydia Kitts and her team at Turnquist House are my own personal website builders! I also recommend Doula Darcy’s website templates!) If starting an entire website from scratch feels daunting, that’s ok! At the very least, claim a social media profile and maintain an active presence on your chosen social platforms. No matter where you house your digital presence, create content that is educational, share client stories, and engage with your followers
Utilize the Power of Testimonials
Testimonials hold immense power in the decision-making process for expectant parents. Encourage your satisfied clients to share their positive experiences in written or video format, and showcase these testimonials on your website and social media platforms. If you don’t yet have clients, ask a trusted friend to give you a character review. Bonus points if they can talk about a time when you supported them, which is the essential skill of a doula! Prospective clients are more likely to trust the words of previous clients, making testimonials an effective tool for attracting new business.
Clearly Communicate Your Value
When interacting with potential clients, clearly articulate the value and benefits of having a doula by their side. You could highlight the positive outcomes associated with doulas, such as reduced medical interventions, increased satisfaction, and improved birth experiences. You can also use this time to differentiate your offerings from other doulas in the area. For me, I like to share that when parents book with me, they receive a custom Workbook! The Birth Doula Client Workbook is absolutely a selling point to my inquiries!
Parents feel reassured that I, their doula, have a plan and can guide them through the unknowns of pregnancy and birth. Offering some sort of bonus or perk to signing with you is a highly effective marketing strategy!
Book Your Dream Doula Client!
When you book that first client, there are so many next steps to take! In this video, I walk you through my entire onboarding process and introduce you to the tools that I use to make a huge impact.
